Morning hunts will begin at 7:30 AM CST where you will be met by your guide at the lodge for a safety briefing before going to the field. Be sure to take lots of shells!
Our guests love to visit Tiffany at RM Brooks General Store for lunch. It is a walk down memory lane built in the early 1930s and acted as the local post office, general mercantile, gas station, and more. You must try her award-winning bologna sandwich!
Naps are also permitted as time allows.
Afternoon hunts will begin around 1:30 PM CST and continue if there is daylight if needed. Sometimes it is hard to leave the field when you hear pheasants cackling in the distance.
Our newly renovated lodge provides spacious room for entertaining. A large wood-burning fireplace and big-screen television are amenities for relaxing after the hunt. The kitchen is well-equipped to prepare all meals and beverages. A large back porch and outdoor fire pit round out the relaxing atmosphere at The Sawbriar.
Overnight guests often wrap up the day at Sawbriar Brewing Company, our local tap room at Highland Manor Winery, Tennessee's oldest.
The Sawbriar is located in the heart of Tennessee’s Upper Cumberland Plateau, literally a stone’s throw from the picturesque 125,000-acre Big South Fork National River and Recreational Area. Our property has been painstakingly established in native warm-season grasses, which provide fantastic natural hunting cover and dramatically enhance the local ecosystem. Deer, turkey, and many non-game species as well as unbelievable numbers of bobwhite quail and pheasants flourish on the Sawbriar; think of your grandpa's hunting grounds. You won’t find a better-managed slice of wingshooting heaven anywhere!

Do we have to purchase a license?
No. Hunters are not required to have a hunting license in the state of Tennessee to hunt game birds at a licensed game preserve.
What time zone are you in?
We are in the Central Time Zone. However, we are only two miles from the Eastern Time Zone. Don't trust the clock on your phone!
Can we bring our own dogs?
Yes. We offer both guided and unguided hunts or bring your young dog along for the experience.
What size shot do you recommend?
7.5 low brass or smaller.
