Sample of Typical Itinerary

Because of our access to private land holdings along the Grey Reef tailwater, you will be one of the first boats on the river and can enjoy all the wade fishing and solitude you need for the ultimate fly-fishing vacation. Big trout, an extended season, and low pressure from anglers make for unforgettable fishing. The private river access and eight exclusive boat ramps are a distinct advantage available only to our guests. Wyoming’s property laws don’t allow public wade fishing or boat docking adjacent to private land. Our access provides plenty of wade fishing, relaxing streamside lunches, and access to restroom facilities. We can offer just about any package you are looking for on your adventure, whether it is a single day on the water or multiple days.

Region/Terrain Where You Fish

We are located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in central Wyoming, at about 6,000 feet of elevation. We are based on the world-renowned North Platte River where we offer walk/wade and float trips on the Grey Reef, Miracle Mile, and Fremont Canyon stretches as well as Float Trips on the Big Horn River outside of Thermopolis Wyoming. These are very health fishery due to our low water temperatures and tailwater environment. Casper has an international airport with regular flights from Denver, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas. Casper is also located conveniently right off I-25 for easy access by vehicle.

Typical Weather by Season

The average rainfall for this area is 12.5 inches per year, and temperatures vary with seasons but we are known for mild springs and falls with warmer bright, sunny summer days. We advise that all clients bring appropriate clothing and sunglasses; we can provide nearly everything else. Water temperatures range from 33-65 degrees depending on the season.

Species You Fish for by Season

Wild rainbows, cutthroats, and browns averaging 17 to 22 inches will keep anglers smiling. The combination of size and numbers of fish make it one of the top destinations in the continental United States. Not to mention, there is always the chance to catch a fish of a lifetime weighing in at more than 10 pounds.

We experience a wide range of hatches throughout the year. Midges (year -round), BWOs (April, May, June, September, October), PMDs (June, July, August, September), and yellow sallies (July, August). The North Platte is known for its nymph fishing, streamer fishing, and some dry-fly fishing.

What is Provided to Customer

Our guided fly-fishing rates include the use of rods and reels; we also include leader, tippet, and flies. A lunch, waters, and sodas are also provided.

Q. What months offer the best fishing in your area?

A. March through October are considered our best months. We do, however, offer guided fishing trips all year long. The winter fly fishing is some of the best in the lower 48; during the winter months there are very few people on the water. We also offer a discounted rate for these months if you are interested.

Q. What kind of weather should I be prepared for?

A. Casper's elevation is 5,200 feet above sea level. At this elevation the sun is intense and weather can change quickly. Be prepared for a range of temperatures and conditions. Layers work best so you can adjust to changing conditions.

Q. How do gratuities work?

A. Gratuities are not included or expected, but certainly appreciated. The average gratuity for our fishing guides is $50 per person, per day.
