The Story

Posta del Norte is a purpose-built dove hunting lodge in Cordoba, Argentina, located an hour and 15 minutes north of Cordoba airport. It is perfectly situated between the Macha and Churqui roosts, which are the highest volume dove roosts in Cordoba. Clients from all over the world have been coming to Posta for the past 15 years to enjoy luxurious accommodations, first-class service and world-class dove shooting.

In 2010, Posta del Norte was purchased by outfitter David Perez and it joined Los Chanares as a member of the Flyways family of elite Cordoba dove hunting lodges. This catapulted Posta del Norte to even greater heights. As a Flyways destination, the number of Posta del Norte's Cordoba dove hunting fields have more than doubled and the lodge has been completely renovated to meet the absolute highest standards of excellence. Today, Posta del Norte is better than ever, offering high-volume Argentina dove hunting at its very best, luxury lodging and superior service.

The feel of the lodge is very warm with the idea to make you feel right at home. The lodge was purposely built as a dove shooting lodge, which makes its layout perfect for guests. The rooms are separate from the dining room and living room. Plus, there is a famous and ancient Gaucho bar with a structure that dates back to the late 1800s. This is a truly amazing place to enjoy a cocktail after the day hunt. A heated Jacuzzi was also recently built to help alleviate the shoulder pain from the high-volume dove hunts.

Ideal for small private parties.
No-limit shooting year-round.
5-star amenities & cuisine.
Recently renovated.
Great introductory rates.
Professional host with over 15 years experience.

Season:

Due to its location, Posta del Norte is the only Flyways lodge open year-round. From July-February, Posta has access to the famous Macha hills and surrounding farms. During the March-June harvesting months, the doves are found mostly on large Cordoba estancias close to Posta del Norte. Most importantly, Posta has the ability to pick from the best fields Cordoba has to offer. Clients can easily choose fields that provide either record volume dove hunting or tall, difficult shooting.

Doves

Gear Recommendations:

Dark colored or camouflage hunting clothes and hats. Wool sweaters, long-sleeve cotton shirts, and fleece zip-up tops'especially during our winter from June to August. Layering is important. Depending on the time of year, it can be 40 F and windy in the morning, then end up in the high 70s and calm winds by the afternoon. Wool socks are sometimes also useful. Lightweight rain suit and waterproof hat from November to March. You may bring (or rent) 20 and 28 gauge shotguns.410 shotgun shells are sometimes available. Please contact us if you will require .410 shells and we will check availability.

The shooting is high-volume, so we recommend that the guns that you do bring are in top condition. Keep your autos clean, and bring any spare parts you might have on hand in case a minor repair needs to be made.

Although choke choice is a personal preference, we have experienced that an Improved Modified (II notches) or Modified (III notches) choke, will be the most effective in most conditions and a full choke for those who prefer high and fast birds. In any case, your lead on the target plays a definitive role.

Shoes: Lightweight or ankle-height is all you need. Many shooters even wear sneakers. Snake boots are recommended from November to March. Comfortable clothes for relaxing around the lodge (jeans, tennis shoes, etc). Shooting glasses, sunglasses, 30 SPF sunscreen or stronger, and lip balm.

Recoil reduction equipment: Shoulder pads, Kevlar lined vests and EvoShield shirts. Lockable travel gun case (stainless steel or heavy-duty fiberglass) in case you bring your own gun. We have cleaning rods and patches; but please bring oil, choke tubes and accessories. Bring modified chokes, improved cylinders, or improved-modified. Any gun cleaning equipment you might need.

Hearing protection: Ear plugs. Side-carry shooting pouch for shells or shell vest. Bird boys can load for you if you want.Leather shooting gloves are an absolute must or you will have blisters!

What to Bring:

All electricity is 220v in Argentina (European style). At the lodge, we have converters for your 110v electronics like laptop computers, digital cameras, smartphones, tablets, electric razors, etc., but some hotels in Buenos Aires and airports do not.

Medication. Most people have no stomach problems in this part of Argentina, nevertheless, it's a good idea, as when traveling anywhere, to take along medication for symptomatic relief. Shaving kit: Mylanta, Advil (or preferred anti-inflammatory), Neosporin, Band-Aids, vitamins, prescribed medication, etc.

Other:

When is the best time to go?
Thankfully, doves fly year-round in Cordoba, Argentina. Because of this, we are open all year except during the harvest season of mid-April to mid-June. During this time, the birds leave our roost to feed in the fields and instead of driving more than an hour to the field, we close the operation. If your schedule is flexible, there are two main things to consider when choosing dates. First is the weather. Seasonal weather patterns are most similar to Atlanta, GA, but keep in mind that our seasons fall opposite of our northern hemisphere counterparts. Second is price. Even though the birds are plentiful all year round, we have split the year into three seasons, which is solely dependent on the demand of our guests. Our personal recommendation is to come between September and December if flexible.

What documents will I need when traveling to Argentina?
If you are a US citizen, you do not need to apply for a visa, but you will need to bring a valid passport.

How many days is a typical hunting trip? The standard trip is 4 days/3 nights. An example itinerary would be the following:
Day 1: Midday arrival to Cordoba Airport. Transfer to the lodge (1:15 drive). Half day afternoon shoot. Night at the lodge.
Day 2: Full day shoot (2 shoots). Night at the lodge.
Day 3: Full day shoot (2 shoots). Night at the lodge.
Day 4: Morning shoot. Afternoon departure to Cordoba Airport for return flight.

What guns do you carry?
Our gun inventory includes:

  • 21 Benelli Montefeltro 20 Gauge
  • 4 Beretta Urika 391 20 Gauge
  • 1 Browning O/U 20 gauge
  • 1 Browning O/U 28 gauge
  • 2 Beretta Silver Pigeone O/U 20 Gauge

Please contact us prior to your trip for special gun requests as we are constantly buying and selling guns so the list above may be a little out of date.

Do you accept children?
Yes, we do.

What is the minimum age for hunters?
There is no minimum age by law. If you believe your son or daughter is ready to shoot birds, they are more than welcome!

Are tips included?
Tips for the lodge and field staff are not included in our prices. Tipping is discretionary. The house staff tips are distributed evenly among the entire staff, we recommend $60 per day per hunter. For the bird pick-up boys, we also recommend $60 per day per hunter. Gifts such as camouflage caps, shirts and other hunting related items are also greatly appreciated by the bird pick-up boys.

What if I have special food needs?
Let us know prior to your arrival and our chef will take care of your needs.

What beverages can I expect at the Lodge?
All beverages are included the package, including selection of the finest Argentine wines, local beers, soft drinks, bottled water, and hard liquor. Hard liquor usually includes Johnny Walker Black, Jack Daniels, Absolut Vodka, Gin, etc.

What is your cancellation policy?
We have a no-refund policy. Now we offer 2 types of trip insurance for a small fee: Cancel for any reason for a future credit or Cancel for any reason for a full refund. Full description and prices are given when paying for the deposit.

Additional Activities:

We offer a range of activities for the non-hunters or the hunters who would like to take a day off the field for an extra cost. Some of these activities are: horseback riding, trekking, historical city tours, shopping tours, spa and massage services, etc.
