Orvis Greenville's Tip of the Week

Lots of bugs in the air with cicadas on the way! Dry flies and dry droppers will be a great option. With several low pressures systems predicted in the coming days, getting out before and after the storms will be very productive. Make sure to check the water temperature before fishing; if its above 65 degrees go further north to fish.

Description: About Eastatoee River

Just a short drive from Greenville into Pickens County, Beautiful granite walls soar above you as you walk through this local favorite. The access point listed here is to a delayed harvest section, or "DH." Delayed Harvest in SC means it is catch and release only from Nov 1st until May 14th. Other regulations may apply such as fly fishing only, single hook, etc. Always check regulations before fishing. This DH is on the Big E. You will see signs to the Little E on your way to this river. 34°57'30.73"N, 82°51'11.12"W is a public parking lot. Head downstream to fish the DH section. This is tougher wading and access to the river is a little strenuous. I don't recommend this section if you aren't in decent physical shape. Walk up stream for easier access. The fishing can be good here. Take your time and work the deep pools for the larger fish.
