Larry's Sporting Goods's Tip of the Week

The water at Bennett has been high most of the month of April an early May. Currently up about 10 inches over normal for this time of year.i Hope to see the water back down and in better shape by the weekend. You will want to avoid the faster current and fish the seams where the fast and slow water meet. You can also have success fishing on the downstream side of any structure.

Description: About Bennett Spring State Park

The Bennett Spring area was founded by pioneers who used the cool, rushing waters of the spring-fed stream for gristmills. Now, it’s a Missouri state park, one of the state's most popular trout destinations where people come to wrestle with rainbow trout and fish a stream that’s stocked every night. Average Daily Flow is 100 million gallons. Trout Fishing Regulations Zone 1 Spring to the Dam at Hatchery. Only single hook lures and flies are permitted. You can fish a dropper off of your main fly. You can also use fly patterns that have rubber legs or latex attached. Zone 2 From the hatchery dam to the whistle bridge. Only flies and artificial lures are permitted. Zone 3 From the whistle bridge to the Niangua River. Only soft plastic bait (unscented), natural and scented bait are permitted. Early A.M. and Evenings

Best Stretch:

Bennett Spring is stocked each day based on previous day tag sales. There are seven stock points in each zone. Most places where you see an access point (gravel driveway) will be a stocking point. Those areas typically have the higher population rate. Although fish will disperse into other areas for feeding purposes and searching.
